The spectacular Wörschachklamm and castle ruins

In the Wörschachklamm, we hike on wooden steps and platforms between steep rocks and thundering waterfalls. Afterwards, we enjoy the beautiful view from the Wolkenstein Burg ruins.

Natural spectacle, a castle ruin and vistas

The Wörschachklamm can be quite crowded. That’s why we only get here around 5pm. The car park is already largely deserted and the crowds have disappeared. The advantage is that we then have the gorge pretty much to ourselves and can take photos without too many tourists. Unlike the Donnersbachklamm, a visit to the Wörschachklamm is charged with an entry fee.

From the car park, we walk to the entrance. Either you choose to hike through the Klamm and then take the same way back. Either opt for the circular route and combine it with a visit to Wolkenstein castle ruins. We choose the latter option.

First, we walk through the gorge. As such, it is quite spectacular but is not very long. Then we walk quite a bit through the forest. At times, there is some climbing to be done. Along the way, we come to a nice viewpoint where we take some photos.

We then continue walking to the castle ruins. From here we have a spectacular view on the Ennstal.

After that, we descend back to the car but on the way we take a few pictures of the knights and damsels.
