Via the Forstweg to the Finsterkar Alm

Magnificent views of the Donnersbach valley, stunning scenery and a solitary mountain hut. This is what you can expect when you hike from Haus Erna to the Finsterkaralm and then to the Berghof (middle station of the Riesnaralm).

Finsterkaralm, a great place to take a break during the hike we did during our summer holiday.

You don’t always have to look far. Put on your walking shoes, walk to the main road and take it to the right. Take the first road (forstweg) to the right again. Pass the barrier and keep following this road. Along the way, you will encounter the red and white markings. You can opt to follow these or just follow the road. After a solid hike, you will arrive at the Finsterkaralm. Don’t forget to enjoy the beautiful views along the way. At the Finsterkaralm, you can turn right to the Berghof (the middle station of the Riesneralm). Either take the lift down here (do keep an eye on the opening hours), or go down on foot (1h30 extra by regular road, 45 minutes extra by piste).
